Security Glass Bullet Protection
Considering our glass for hurricane windows manufacture? In ballistics tests of treated 3/8″ Glass with 5+ rounds of 9 mm 124 Grain Full Metal Jacket, there was no glass penetration.
Blast Protection
U.S. Government bomb tests have established that in a blast situation the glass would absorb the blast, and it is unlikely that any sharding of the glass would occur. Blast resistance to extreme pressure forces, similar to what a blast produces was further shown in the ASTM hurricane test conducted by the Hurricane Testing Center on the XYZ product.
XYZ is the only company to pass the ASTM 70 DP test with a film application.
For our film, independent lab tests were conducted in accordance with ASTM F-1642. Blast loads for three samples were:
- Peak Pressure = 4.5-5 psi, All samples were ASTM
- Impulse =29-32 psi-ms
- Very Low Hazard and GSA Performance Condition 2
Hurricane Protection
Blast resistance was further shown recently when ordinary windows were tested at the Miami Hurricane center under the ASTM Hurricane Standards to Hurricane Category 3. Ordinary 1/4″ window glass in large 6 X 6 foot panels were treated with the XYZ system and were subjected to extreme forces.
The tests consist of 3 panels, each shot with two large 2 X 4 boards at 130 mph. XYZ was the first and only company to pass the test with a film application. The results and video of the testing are available.
Smash & Grab Protection
The XYZ system, when bonded, makes hurricane windows glass very strong and highly resistant to breakage, almost unbreakable. Penetration by thrown objects such as bricks essentially does not occur.
Green Technology
Cold and heat factors are reduced considerably. Cost savings after application can be up to 20%, depending on thickness of glass.
